SAMS Magic Convention – Scottish Championships Of Magic

At the weekend I went up to Perth for the Scottish Association Of Magical Societies, (SAMS) annual convention. There were guest lectures, competitions and workshops through out the whole weekend.

I competed on the Friday night in the Close-Up Magician Of The Year competition, along with another 7 acts that were shortlisted.

I performed 4 original tricks that I created myself, and they went down well with the judges and the audience.

Doc Eason

The head judge was a famous magician from America called Doc Eason. It was a great honour to perform in front of him, and also to perform in the competition as a whole.

I ended up winning 1st place, making me the current Close-Up Magician of the year, and received the Anne Warlock Trophy for winning.

When I spoke to Doc after the competition he had this to say:
“you shone out amongst the other acts, and you were my favourite, good job”
