Special Moments

I had a great weekend performing across Scotland at different events, but there was one performance that stood out for me.

On Saturday night I was on the train back from a performance in the Glasgow City Chambers. I was sitting minding my own business and I over heard a conversation from a family sitting at the table opposite me. They had had a long day travelling, with cancelled trains, replacement buses, and lots of waiting around.

It was 9:30pm and the four kids looked tired and fed up. After hearing all this, I decided to introduce myself and asked if they wanted to see some magic. All of a sudden everyone’s face lit up, and the kids got excited.

I produced 4 lollipops using fire (Sorry Scotrail) and then ended up performing some magic for them – and the other passengers – for the full journey to Edinburgh! The reactions, and smiles on their faces made my day (and the magic made their day apparently).

This got me thinking about how much I enjoy my job, and how powerful magic is. No matter what your age, you can always get that warm fuzzy feeling inside, that are created with moments of magic.

Hopefully this little story inspires some of you to do what you love, and also to use your skills to make other peoples day – even if it is to just give someone a smile in the street, or say hello to someone. You never quite know who you’re going to meet or how you will impact their life.

Go and give it a go and let me know how you get on. Have a great day!
