Do reactions mean anything?

I was performing at a masquerade event last night.

It was the usual routine, turn up, meet the organisers, get myself set up in a room off to the side, (entertain a dance troop that were performing after me) and then enter the room to perform close up magic amongst the guests.

What I never realised though, was that at a ‘masquerade ball’ all guests wear masks. This made my job that little bit more interesting as I was unable to gauge my audiences reactions to the tricks I was performing.

The end of the night came and I was speaking to the organisers, and they had said that everyone had loved the magic and they thought that it had gone really well.

It just goes to show that sometimes you need to be able to read people’s faces/reactions, to see if they are enjoying what you are doing or just to move on to another group!
